I’m currently reading The Mis-Education of the Negro by Carter G. Woodson. It is a very interesting novel. Woodson made many points that are worth dissecting and discussing. It is not everyday you come across an author who fearlessly tackles the issues of race. Woodson was a pioneer in his time, bringing knowledge of black culture to the masses in a way that continues to leave an affect on people of color around the world.
My fear is that the fire is dying and our culture is being pushed aside as though it were not the foundation of every civilization on earth. There seems to be an effort to lay waste all that we’ve done, turn it on its head, and make it seem as though we’ve had no historical accomplishments. We are becoming invisible.
This trend disheartens me. I wonder what tomorrow will bring. From the looks of things, there won’t be much left of our past to discuss. It is slowly being erased from the memory of people around the globe through careful manipulation.
It is all left to be seen. I will watch and wait.
